CO-OP LIVE CELEBRATE TRIUMPHANT LIAM GALLAGHER RESIDENCY WITH ICONIC GLOBE INSTALLATION
27 AUGUST 2024
To mark Liam Gallagher’s recent residency at Co-op Live, the Manchester-born international star has gifted his giant scene-setting globe to the city’s new state-of-the-art live entertainment venue.
The iconic globe installation will soon be presented in the vast atrium, The Street, to celebrate and further extend the legacy of Gallagher’s acclaimed performances during the opening season of Co-op Live. Gallagher headlined four triumphant shows in June 2024, celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of Oasis’ defining debut album, ‘Definitely Maybe’.
To mark the occasion, Co-op Live has donated £25K to Gallagher’s chosen charity, Happy Doggo. Launching in 2021, Happy Doggo reduces the suffering of stray dogs by offering support, sanctuary and welfare worldwide.
The donation aligns with the venue’s wider commitment to supporting charities and causes that performers are linked to. Further signifying Co-op Live’s commitment to charity, the venue will also encourage fans to add donations through in-venue QR codes, digital and physical activations.
The installation of the globe and the venue’s charity donation follows Liam Gallagher’s declaration of his Co-op Live performances as “biblical”, and the venue itself as “up there with New York’s Madison Square Gardens”.
June’s four performances by Gallagher welcomed a total of over 68,000 fans and saw audiences enjoy renditions of fan favourites ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Star’, ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’ and ‘Live Forever’.
Rebecca Kane Burton, Interim General Manager, Co-op Live says: “There’s nothing more fitting than immortalising a part of Liam Gallagher’s triumphant homecoming as a fixture in the venue. It’s great to be able to pair this with a donation to Liam’s chosen charity, Happy Doggo, and to encourage many more fans to do the same as they walk through Co-op Live’s doors.”
Niall Harbison, founder and CEO, Happy Doggo adds: “We couldn't be happier that Buttons found her home with Liam and Debbie. Not only have they provided the best home we could ever hope for, they have and continue to be such incredible supporters of our mission. Together with Co-op Live, we've changed the lives of hundreds of thousands of street dogs already.”
Fans are able to donate to Happy Doggo on the Just Giving page.
